The Ladins of the Dolomites: People, landscape, culture
Ladinia lies in the heart of the Dolomites, surrounding the imposing Sella Massif. Ladin, a Rhaeto-Romance language, has survived there in five valleys: Gardena (Gherdëina), Badia (Val Badia), Fassa (Fascia), Livinallongo (Fodom) and Ampezzo (Anpezo). This book sheds light on the culture and tradition of the Ladin people: their customs, crafts and the legends of the Kingdom of the Fanes and of the Pale Mountains. Sketches of well-known Ladins such as Giorgio Moroder, Luis Trenker and Gilbert Prousch of Gilbert & George fame are also included.
