When water is a source of wellbeing. Warm, cold. Kneipp. Hydrotherapy. These are the essential elements to reduce stress while stimulating the organism and mind. There are numerous Kneipp paths in South Tyrol along which you can try the effects of this natural treatment.
Kneipp therapy helps stimulate circulation. Cold water applications to the skin's surface initially cause the blood vessels to contract. The circulatory and nervous systems respond by sending warm blood to the chilled areas in an attempt to maintain the body's temperature. This stimulation of the more than 25,000 temperature receptors on the skin also increases the flow of blood to the organs. The Kneipp Rudlbach course close to Monguelfo/Welsberg nestes amid woods: immerse your feet into the cold water (9° C) of the stream and follow the stations along the pathway which furthers relaxation and meditation.
One of the finest Kneipp courses in the entire Alpine region is located at Villabassa/Niederdorf in the Alta Pusteria/Hochpustertal valley. It comprises a large park with a pond and various Kneipp trails as well as an adventure playground for children. Kneipp courses are held here in summer.
The Bärenbad (‘Bears’ Bath’) is located at Solda/Sulden in the Val Venosta/Vinschgau. An oasis of well-being, it is located in an idyllic spot. The course is constructed entirely using natural materials and affords a splendid view of the Ortler, Zebrù and Gran Zebrù.
Finally there is a Kneipp course at Varna/Vahrn near Bressanone/Brixen. It is located in a park with an adventure playground for children and a fitness trail.
