The Renon cable car is a show case for public Transport worldwide. Transport links between Bozen and the Ritten have a long tradition. More than 100 years ago, the Bozen aristocracy travelled on the cog railway from the Waltherplatz in Bozen to the Ritten. This railway was replaced in 1966 by a cable car, which after 40 years of service no longer exists. In 2009 the new cable car was opened for public, the first of its kind in Italy.

    Speikboden
Sand in Taufers/Campo Tures, Ahrntal/Valle Aurina
The ultra-modern gondola lift in the ski area Speikboden in Ahrntal valley was built in 2005 in just four months. It replaced the old chairlifts and is now an indispensable part in terms of comfort, speed and safety.
90 comfortable and weatherproof cabins, each with eight seats, and 1,760 horsepower, transport around 2,400 people to one of the most beautiful family ski areas in South Tyrol, from 950 to 2,000 meters above sea level. The six-kilometer-long rope measures an impressive 54 millimeters in diameter, weighs 75 tons and was delivered by special transport. Since then, waiting times at the valley station have been a thing of the past.
Most passengers are unaware of a technical and structural refinement that is unique in South Tyrol and Italy. At the height of the old middle station, the ropeway makes a four-degree bend over a length of 800 meters. This planning masterpiece helped to prevent any major interference with nature.

The work is primarily carried out by local companies to ensure short production and delivery routes and to support the local economy. The project will be completed in the fall of 2023 and the first rides will start in December 2023.
