The hike starts at the Kühhof car park above Latzfons. Head northwest on forest trail over the open Alpine meadows passing through sparse larch and pine forests to the Klausner Hütte mountain hut (1923 m). Continue along the hiking trail passing the Rungger Hütten huts and Plankenbach brook. Also known as the Kreuzweg (Way of the Cross), the trail then crosses a pine forest before winding its way up a steep slope to the pilgrimage church and mountain shelter at Latzfonser Kreuz. Continue up trail no. 9. Finally, the route leads to the Kassiansee mountain lake and the Kassianspitze summit (2581 m) slightly beyond. The return is back the same way as the ascent.

Walking tour in the Valley of Planeil
From the mountain village of Planeil, trail No. 6 follows on the broad valley path through sloping meadows to the wall remains of the Petesetteshof farm. Continue on until the way forks left, from here go up to the Planol Alpine hut (2069 m).
Descent: from the hut downhill through Alpine pasture slopes, following trail No. 10 to above Planeil village and at the end take a steep right down to the starting point.
Attention: This snowshoe hike requires knowledge of avalanches and snow safety.

Walk along trail no. 1 or the E5 European long-distance walking trail trough the hilly landscape offered by the Salten, to then reach the little church of St. Jacob and Langfenn. This challenging hike on the sunny side of the valley leading from the base station 2-seater chairlift up to old farms and continue along a wide forest path to the Larcherberger Säge. In slight descent through woods and meadows of the trail on Steinrast leads down to the base station 2-seater chairlift.
