The sun is out, you’re fully packed – now where do you want to go? The peaks, pinnacles and towers of the Dolomites gleam invitingly in the morning light. Are they even more beautiful from the summit? The valleys are criss-crossed with trails through vineyards and apple orchards, past imposing castles, around enchanting lakes and along the Waalweg canal trails. South Tyrol has more than 16,000 km of signposted hiking trails that run through the ever-changing natural landscape, including themed trails, multi-day tours and high-Alpine trails.

From the church in Longiarü, head south-west towards Frëina/Seres along the road until you reach the bridge. From there, a small path leads through the forest to Frëina. Follow the paved road on the right and, in the bend after the bridge, take the narrow path on your left. Walk past the Vanc farmstead to the hamlet Seres, a lovely example of the extraordinary historic Viles. Val di Murins, the valley of the mills, opens up just before the bridge over the stream.
The Raiermoos biotope is a natural haven in Raas/Rasa, on the Natz-Schabs/Naz-Sciaves plateau. This scenic nature trail with a series of helpful info boards leads through the unspoilt landscape.
There is a table tennis, a football place, a little wood (for little pirates and bandits) and particularly peace and silence.
This stage takes you through one of the most iconic landscapes of the Dolomites. Right at the beginning, you'll encounter Lake Carezza, a deep blue mountain lake that, with the rugged peaks of the Latemar in the background, appears as a gem in the landscape. From there, you'll traverse dense coniferous forests and alpine meadows that provide an impressive panorama, which will accompany you all the way to Obereggen.
The malga Sattlerhütte is a very beautifully situated, rustic pasture below the Möltner Kaser. The hike can be done at any time of the year: in winter as a snowshoe tour, in autumn - when the larches turn yellow-gold, in the summer because of the lush green meadow and especially in spring, when the alpine meadows turn into a flowering sea of crocuses and other spring flowers.
The romanesque church St.Jakob on the Langfenn is positioned on the most visible and on the highest point of the Salto (1525m). The church stands on prehistoric ground and could tell us probabely many interesting and exciting historical things. On the altar we can see Saint Jakob, the protector of all hikers, and on his side the two Patrons of the pest, Rochus and Sebastian..
PÉ DE BÖRZ 1862 m – MONTEMURO 2332 m approx. 470 m | 2-2.5 hours Description: From the Pé de Börz car park on the road to Passo delle Erbe, take the forest trail to the Montemuro inn (closed in winter). From there, cross the ample ridge which leads to the peak. Easy hike to a safe peak with spectacular views.
Possibility to rental snowshoes in Antermoia and Picolin.
The stroll begins on Str. Fanes: Walk through the Pes-Pesc playground, then continue along the paved dirt road parallel to the cross-country skiing slope (pedestrians: please keep off the slope) until just before you reach the C´iamaor sports grounds. The forest trail will take you to C´iamaor (to the left of the football pitch). Having passed the C´iamaor bridge, keep left and continue along the picturesque trail past Horse Trekking Mareo until you get to Lé dla Creda.
This well-frequented route from Schabs/Sciaves runs through the valley and across the Rienzschlucht gorge to Rodenegg Castle, one of the biggest and best defended fortifications in South Tyrol, before returning via Mühlbach/Riomolino back to Schabs.
We start from Barbian/Barbiano and take the trail nr. 3-11 in direction to the sport place. Continue on that way and you will come to the Dreikirchen/Trechiese. For the return we take the trail nr. 6 to "Feistegg" and then the way nr. 3 until "Wieserhof". From that point we have to follow the trail nr. 6A to the saw mill. At the "Wasserfallweg" we go back to Barbian/Barbiano.
An extremely enjoyable excursion which, from the La Crusc/S.Croce sanctuary, takes you through the breathtaking Armentara meadows, renowned for their abundance of flowers. The panorama is wonderful with the Sas dla Crusc mountain which soars upwards and the magnificent view which extends from the Marmolada to the Grup dl Sela, from Puez-Odle to Pütia and out over Alta Badia’s verdant valley.
Route: From the car park take the old army road up to Malga Piccolo Fanes. Up to the fork just before the Rifugio Fanes and the Rifugio Lavarella you can generally walk without snowshoes. At the fork turn right and climb across an altitude differential of approx. 100 m through the woods and across meadows (Parliament of marmots) to the plateau Plan de Serenes. From there you can see the peak of Col Toronn situated in front of the distinctive rock face of the Cima Nove. The level path leads westwards for approx. 500 m before becoming steeper, leading towards the Northwest to the ridge top that comes down from the peak of Col Toronn. Continue to climb to the right of the ridge top and in a left curve across easy terrain up to the highest point. Descent: Return by the same route to the Plan de Serenes plateau, then cross over to the South to the Rifugio Lavarella. Alternatively, return to the fork in the path and descend directly by the Rifugio Pederü.
From the Rina sports grounds, a marked trail leads to the Munt da Rina/Welchellener Alm (catering facilities). The Munt da Rina mountain inn is open during the summer months. From there, you can hike on Col dal Lè all the way to the idyllic Lake Munt da Rina(Glittner See in German). Return along the same route.
A line of chestnut groves extends from the abbey of Novacella/Neustift near Bressanone/Brixen all along the slopes of the Isarco Valley as far as the high plateau of the Rittner and down into the Bolzano/Bozen valley as far as Runkelstein castle with its fabled frescoes: the ideal route for the “Keschtnweg”. It should not only be thought of as an Autumn excursion though, because the landscape is extremely attractive all year round thanks to the diverse vegetation of the area.
First stage with starting point in Bolzano Bozen: from Roncolo castle to Auna di Sotto-Unterinn on the highplateau of Renon-Ritten
From the castle choose the way n. 2 and than follow the n. 2A until the cross path with the n. 6. Continue on the n. 6 until Signato-Signat and than proceed along the way n. 13 until the destination, Auna di Sotto-Unterinn.
This enjoyable family hike from Albeins/Albes retraces the historic trail to the small settlement of Teis/Tiso, at the entrance of the Villnösstal Valley.
From the village place of Barbian/Barbiano we go to the so called "Keschtnweg" in direction to Sauders/San Maurizio at Villanders/Villandro. First we have to cross a steep descent. After this first hard part of the hike we go comfortable to Sauders/San Maurizio (in this place you have also the possibility to eat and drink somewhere). On the return we have to go a little bit on the street in direction to Villanders/Villandro and then we follow the trail nr. 4 until the "Winterlehof". From that position we can go back to Barbian/Barbiano.
Varied mountain hike in the Nature Park Fanes-Senes-Braies starting from San Cassiano. Admire the stunning views from the Forcela dl Lech notch, looking north over the entire Fanes mountain range. Turn your gaze westwards to the imposing Conturines peak. East lie the rock faces of the Fanis group and to the south the Lagazuoi plateau and the homonymous lake.
A pleasant and relaxing walk, on the plateau above Corvara, through flowering meadows and shady woods, with a stunnig view.
Follow the path (trail no. 7) from the bus stop on Höfestraße road to Meluno/Mellaun and then go uphill to Oberplattnerhof farm. The path across the field bends to the right (trail no. 18), leading to the Wieser wayside shrine. Descend down trail no. 8 down to Cleran/Klerant and from there northwards back to the starting point in Meluno/Mellaun on trail no. 12.
The relaxing winter hike follows the "Roda de Armentara" signs throughout the whole itinerary. During the excursion you will be able to breathe the fresh mountain air and enjoy the enchanting snowy landscape with a view on the peaks of the Dolomites.
This hiking circuit passes through all five nature reserves on the Natz-Schabs high plateau: Raiermoos in Raas/Rasa, Sommersürs, Zuzzis and Hairer in Viums/Fiumes and Laugen, south of Natz/Naz.
A leisurely circular hike from Klerant/Cleran to St. Andrä/S. Andrea on the low hills of mount Plose.
Along the road to S. Leonardo/St. Leonhard, until the settlement area to the left (signposted), along a forest paths north to Cornale/Karnol, there uphill along the field trail no. 6 to Burgstall. Back direction south though the forest (trail no. 12) on the sports grounds to the starting point.
