This, a little bit challenging, itinerary starts at the bridge next to the bar Verena on the road direction Würzjoch. We hike upwards on the path through the meadows along the brook Putzerbach, we pass the "Balbein Platzl" with a little pond, picnic-table and panorama lounger. Following the path through the woods, crossing the road to Flitt, we walk uphill to Flitt (1337 m). Here we can take a break and visit the idyllic chapel. The meadows of Flitt offer a beautiful view of the valley with the Peitlerkofel in the background. The path downwards, which is initially steep and its starting point is located at the farm Wurzerhof, leads us to the start of the toboggan run and then to the farm Örtlhof. From here we follow the path through the woods until we arrive at the farm Pekulerhof. Finally we walk on the street until the starting point at the Bar Verena.
The porphyry hill of St. Hippolyt is situatet in the north of the low mountain range of Tesimo. The 758m high hill stands lonely, away from the noise of the world, and offers a unique panoramic view far over the Adige Valley. No fewer than 20 villages and 40 castles can be seen from up here. Its exposed location also made it one of the oldest prehistoric settlements in South Tyrol.
The Romanesque church of St. Hippolytus is enthroned on the hill.
A forest road leads to the church and the hill, but it is not cleared in winter. Attention: the path can be icy in places, good footwear required!
The road starts from the centre of Aldein next to the Church. We follow the instructions of the road nr. 10 and after 1 1/2 we reach the main street, which has to be crossed. The instructions show the way to farms and meadows. Soon we reach the first station of the cross, this one as well as the others are made by the Schützenkompanie Aldein. At the "Bacherhof" farm starts the "Long way", called by the inhabitants of Aldein, which goes into the woods with a slight raising. Walking from one station of the cross to the next we reach the "Woller"-shed in the middle of alp meadows with beautiful flowers. The forest road (Nr. 2-8-10) leads us to the largest place of pilgrimage of South Tyrol: Maria Weißenstein. Behind the Curch we find the restaurant and the bus parking place, where a bus drives to the Centre of Aldein too.
The hiking tour “GEOTour Bletterbach Canyon” starts from the Visitor Centre in Aldino and leads to the “Taubenleck” and finally to the waterfall in the so called “Butterloch”. This tour is a journey through the “geological Middle Ages”.
