    Hiking in South Tyrol

    The sun is out, you’re fully packed – now where do you want to go? The peaks, pinnacles and towers of the Dolomites gleam invitingly in the morning light. Are they even more beautiful from the summit? The valleys are criss-crossed with trails through vineyards and apple orchards, past imposing castles, around enchanting lakes and along the Waalweg canal trails. South Tyrol has more than 16,000 km of signposted hiking trails that run through the ever-changing natural landscape, including themed trails, multi-day tours and high-Alpine trails.

    This alpine mountain hike in Eppan is an absolute must for vertigo- free hikers. A varied ascent through a narrow channel with a 25 metre-long (82 ft), newly installed ladder and a unique view from the summit cross.

    This walk trough interesting Landscapes at the entrance to the Pustertal valley leads trough the upper boundary of orchards and vineyards. There are cultivation trials of apple trees and grape varieties on the sunny slopes of the sunny slopes of Mühlbach. A gem worth seeing is the Stöcklvater chapel, a place of pilgrimage in Mühlbach, as well as the renowned Urlaubstöckl.

    Family-friendly hike, suitable for buggies. In the village of St. Valentin/San Valentino, immediately after the “Camping zum See”, the path turns left before a wooden bridge. Continue straight on through the biotope and along the side of the lake towards the village of Fischerhäuser. Along the path there are numerous opportunities to rest. The path splits after the bridge, surrounded by reeds and sounds from the fauna. The upper asphalt path is for cyclists; the path below for walkers. The path undulates gently through an idyllic forest. On this side of the lake there are some cosy places to stay.
    Note: Start the lake tour from a variety of points in either direction.

    This circuit walk leads from the vil lage of Fiumes through the Naz-Sciaves high plateau. The small and romantic St. Magdalena Kirche church on the mound in Fiumes is one of the most beautiful  places of worship in the region.

    The Plattweg trail takes you to the lonely South Tyrolean mountain world, with far reaching views of the Resia Lake. From the station at the top of the Haideralm/Malga S. Valentino follow the forest road towards the valley until the path forks for the first time. From there follow the forest road signposted no. 18 to the left. The long gravel path offers some clearings with beautiful views over the valley. The forest road signposted no. 11 branches off to the right, crossing a forest road three times. At the third crossing leave the path signposted no. 11, follow the forest path signposted no. 18A to the right, cross the Vallatschbach river until the path joins the forest path signposted no. 9, which leads to Plagött and then to the village of St. Valentin.
    Alternative: Follow the path signposted no. 11 without changing to the path signposted no. 18A. The last section is an asphalted road from Kaschon to St. Valentin

    Mölten, a village above Bozen, is embedded in the mountain meadows of one of the most beautiful plateaus in South Tyrol. It's the quiet center of this plateau called Tschögglberg at an altitude of 1,140 m. This place is definitely one of the most beautiful regions of South Tyrol with its wide high-level surfaces and invites the visitor to a relaxing hike.

    The hike through meadows and forests from Mölten to Hafling is wonderful. The panorama is a pleasure for every hiker.

    Circular hike in Val Mazia

    Circular hike in the rustic Matscher valley with the possibility to stop at the Matscheralm.
    The trail starts at the parking lot under the Almhotel Glieshof and goes about 20 m out of the valley, then a forest road turns off to the right. After about half an hour of walking, you can already see the Matscheralm (2,045m) on the left. The last few hundred meters are a bit steep, but once you have reached the Matscheralm, you can enjoy the unique mountain panorama in the Matschertal valley and perhaps spot some game. The way back starts behind the alp, follow the signs, via the Vinschger Höhenweg to the "Eisawiesen". Continue to the Thaneihöfe farms and back down the valley to the starting point.

    Rojental valley circular tour

    The hamlet of Rojen/Roja is one of the highest settlements in South Tyrol and the Rojental valley is one of its hidden jewels. The circular hike starts at the car park in Rojen and leads orographically left on the path towards the end of the valley. Walking along the Rojen river, passing beautiful mountain meadows and original hay barns, you reach a plateau where the path leads into the path signposted no. 8A. After crossing the river, the trail runs along the right side of the valley through pine forests towards the ski and hike lodge Rojen.
    Note: The round trip is possible in either direction, with light footwear.

    Start the trail at the church in Natz, then follow trail no. 4 to Raas and further to the Neustift Abbey.

    On the way back follow the trail along the river Eisack for about 45 minutes to Brixen (trail no. 16 or 16a through the vineyards). Return back by public bus to Natz.

    Walk from the center in the direction of Schabs and Viums. At the Viummer Kreuz cross chapel, turn left and follow the Stegerbühelrunde sign northwards and clockwise. Walking around the hill will take you along on mossy forest trails that offer great views of Rodenegg Castle and the Rienzschlucht gorge.

    Starting at the church in Natz follow the road „Schlossergasse“ through the village in direction nord, of „Viums“. After about 150 m turn right and follow the sign „Dörferrunde“ through settlements. This will lead you (mostly on an even paths) through fields and woods to the observation point „Waldertor“, where you can enjoy the amazing view oft he castel „Rodenegg“ on the oppsite side. Then continue walking towards west in direction of „Viums“, past the romantic chapel „St. Magdalena. At the village border follow trail no. 1 towards south through fields to the Somersürs biotope. Soon afterwards you will reach the main street Natz-Viums, leading to your starting point in Natz.

    Explore the picturesque landscape along hiking trail no. 46 and follow the path to the historic “Sinna Mihle”. From there, turn right onto the Lanaweg trail, which leads you on a flat section for around 1.5 km in the direction of Dobbiaco. Enjoy the tranquillity of nature before returning to the village via the idyllic Langwiesn. The circular hike ends back at your starting point.

    A wonderful hike with some beautiful views of the valley as you ascend. Starting from the kitestation in Graun/Curon, starting point South Graun/Curon, you cross the state road and follow path no. 10 across the meadows "Arlui". Then follow the forest road (no. 10) with beautiful views over the lake on a steady, gentle incline through the forest to the Grauner Alm alpine pasture, which is popularly known by the Rhaetian name "Vivana". The alpine pasture is an alpine dairy and is not farmed. The way back is on the same path as the ascent.

    The excursion is located very beautiful and you walk between green meadows and woods. It extends on a big part on the back of the altiplano "Tschöggelberg", from Avelengo to Lavenna, the highest point of the Salto.

    The romanesque church St.Jakob on the Langfenn is positioned on the most visible and on the highest point of the Salto (1525m). The church stands on prehistoric ground and could tell us probabely many interesting and exciting historical things. On the altar we can see Saint Jakob, the protector of all hikers, and on his side the two Patrons of the pest, Rochus and Sebastian..
