The Daimerweg was opened on August 8th, 1903 on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Sand in Taufers Alpine Association and was named after its founder, Dr. Josef Daimer, one of the pioneers of tourism in the Tauferer valley. The picturesque lake is bedded within a pine-wood forest and it is truly a tiny paradise.
We start at the castle bridge in the northern area of Sand and follow the riverside path upstream. We reach a fork where Daimerweg No. 27 leads uphill into the forest. At a crossroads, we take path No. 26a. We now reach some steeper sections until we arrive at Trejer Alm or the outer Michlreis Alm. We continue along the forest road heading south until we reach the idyllic Trejer See.
Return via the outward route or take the Speikbodenlift; for this, we take forest path No. 26 to the upper station of the lift. Once back in Drittelsand, we walk downstream to the castle bridge, where we reach our starting point again.
Take line 450 to Sand in Taufers and get off at the bus station. From here, walk 5 minutes upstream alongside the main road until you reach the starting point.
