Truden/Trodena
Winter hike from Truden to Horn Alm along the European long-distance trail E5 with spectacular panoramic views and a cosy mountain hut.
from center
Starting in Trodena/Truden we take the European long distance path E5. We walk through a wonderful mixed coniferous forest on a forestry trail and we get to the col "Ziss-Sattel". The trail continues to the  "Hornalm" on 1.710 m. The panoramic view from here is surely worth the tiring climb: You have a wonderful view over the mountain chain "Lagoraikette", the Palagruppe, the two mountains Schwarzhorn and Weißhorn, the Latemar, the Rosengarten group, the Schlern and the Alps of the Stubaital and Ötztal. After a stop for a bite to eat, we take the path E5 back to Trodena. The Alp is open in Winter from Tuesday to Sunday.
Itinerary
The hike starts in the village centre of Truden. Follow the European long-distance trail E5 through beautiful conifer forests along a forest road to Ziss Saddle. From there, the trail continues uphill to Horn Alm at 1,710 m. The ascent is rewarded with magnificent views of the Lagorai Range, the Pale Group, Schwarzhorn, Weißhorn, Zanggen Mountain, Latemar, Rosengarten, Schlern, and the Stubai and Ötztal Alps. After a relaxing break at the mountain hut, return to Truden along the same E5 trail. Horn Alm is open from Tuesday to Sunday during the winter season.

Details
During winter, snow and ice can make the trails slippery. Wear suitable winter hiking boots and check weather and trail conditions before setting out.
Winter hiking boots with good grip, warm weatherproof clothing, gloves, hat, sufficient water and hiking poles if required.
Take your time at Horn Alm and enjoy one of the finest panoramic viewpoints in Trudner Horn Nature Park.
Take the train to Neumarkt-Tramin railway station. From there, take bus line 144 to Truden, Zentrum. The starting point is only a short walk from the bus stop. 
Directions
Take the A22 motorway exit Neumarkt/Auer. Continue via Montan to Truden. The starting point is located in the village centre.

Public parking is available in the village centre of Truden.
