Explore South Tyrol by bike: the route from Bolzano/Bozen to Meran/Merano along the Etsch/Adige Cycle Path covers 45 kilometers of scenic beauty. Lush orchards, historical castles, and panoramic mountain views make this mostly flat trail perfect for families and leisure cyclists. In Meran/Merano, Mediterranean charm, elegant promenades, and the iconic Kurhaus await.
Itinerary
Begin at Bolzano/Bozen train station, pass through Walther Square and Verdi Square along the Isarco River. At Sigmundskron Castle, join the Adige Cycle Path and follow it all the way to Meran/Merano. Along the way, enjoy village views, orchards, and mountain backdrops. In Meran/Merano, visit the splendid Kurhaus, the lush Tappeiner Promenade, the Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle, or unwind at the thermal baths. Return via the Apple Cycle Path or by train.

Overview
Wearing a helmet is highly recommended, especially for children. Always obey traffic rules, even on bike paths, and be cautious at crossings and bridges. Frequent breaks help you enjoy the route in a relaxed and safe way.
A well-maintained bike, weather-appropriate clothing, enough water and snacks, and a map or GPS device will ensure a smooth ride.
Walk the scenic Tappeiner Promenade with its panoramic views, explore the botanical gardens at Trauttmansdorff Castle, or relax at the Meran/Merano Thermal Baths. Don’t miss the stunning Kurhaus, the city's architectural gem and cultural centerpiece.
Regional trains run regularly between Bolzano/Bozen and Meran/Merano. Bicycles can be transported for an extra charge and only if space allows. The Südtirols Süden Card allows free use of all public transport in South Tyrol. Bikes are not included.
Directions
Bolzano/Bozen is easy to reach by car via the A22 motorway (Bolzano South exit), by train from Italy, Austria, or Germany, or by bike via the Adige Cycle Path.
Parking
Recommended garages in the city center include the Waltherplatz Parking Garage, the Bolzano Mitte Parking Garage, and the Laurin Garage – all just a short distance from the starting point.
