Hike from Schalders/Scaleres to the spectacular Karspitze peak, with magnificent views of the central Eisacktal Valley and Brixen/Bressanone.
This hike to the summit of the Karspitze (2,517 m)starts at the Wieserhof farm in Schalders (1,525 m). Situated at the end of the winding Schalderer Straße road, getting there from Vahrn/Varna near Brixen is easy.
Follow trail no. 2 passing a few steep sections in the forest. Soon after the first mountain pastures the trail comes to the Kaserhüttlalm mountain hut. Continue up the rough track, on the south-east ridge keeping slightly to the right. Follow trail no. 2 to the striking Karspitz peak (2,517 m) from where a breath-taking view opens up over the central Eisacktal Valley, the summits of the Pfunderer mountains and the Sarntaler Alps.The return follows trail no. 2 over the ridge and left down to the Zirmaitalm mountain hut (1,891 m). Follow trail no. 3 below the hut which finally leads onto a forest track. Continue and return to the starting point under the shade of the forest.
The circuit hike to the rock pyramid during the bloom of the mountain roses is especially rewarding.
