Center for Culture - Mairania 857

The Mairania 857 cultural center promotes art and social exchange through exhibitions, concerts, theatre, cinema, conferences and cultural projects.

The Italian Cultural Center is located on Cavour-Street, opposite the Hotel Palace.

The building, originally constructed in 1887, also served as a school for many years. An additional story was added in the 1970s, and it has been restored more recently.

Since 2006, it has been operated by the Mairania 857 cooperative and serves as a meeting place for artists, organizations, and culture enthusiasts. The center organizes exhibitions, concerts, theatrical performances, film screenings, conferences, and educational events, thereby fostering collaboration among various cultural communities and the development of new projects.

Its primary goal is to strengthen cultural engagement and deepen relationships between local communities through art and creativity. Today, Mairania 857 is an indispensable cultural center in Merano.

At Merano train station take either the bus no. 1 or bus no. 4 and get off at the Elisabeth Park stop at via Cavour.
Directions
From the city center you can reach the Culture Centre with a 5-minute walk or in just a few minutes by bike, following the cycle path that runs along the Ponte della Posta bridge and passes the Sissi statue.
Parking
Bicycle parking spaces are located directly in front of the entrance to the cultural centre. Take care not to park bicycles and e-scooters carelessly. They can pose a danger to blind and visually impaired people, as they create obstacles to safely walking along paths and finding entrances. People in wheelchairs and parents with pushchairs can also be hindered by carelessly parked bicycles. Please use the designated bicycle parking spaces.


The St. Josef Car Park is located in the immediate vicinity of the cultural centre and has wide and convenient parking spaces. You can use the ‘Car Park Finder’ app to view the available spaces in real time.
