The Kneipp Trail invites you to experience nature, movement, and relax in a truly special way. Along the approximately 1.2-kilometre forest path between Tann and Bad Siess, you immerse yourself in the holistic health philosophy of Sebastian Kneipp. Along the route, you will discover the five pillars of the Kneipp philosophy: water, movement, nutrition, herbs, and balanced living. Here, you will find a place of peace and tranquillity – far away from noise and everyday stress. Leave your routine behind, take a deep breath, and take time for yourself. Step by step, you will not only feel closer to nature, but also to yourself. More information in www.ritten.com/kneipp
Itinerary
The Kneipp Trail leads along the forest trail (no. 27) into the wood and, after 400 m, branches off to the right onto trail no. 8. From here, you enter a peaceful forest landscape. The well-signposted path leads you comfortably through the forest and past several stations that introduce you to Sebastian Kneipp’s philosophy. Most of the route runs along flat, natural paths, and you can choose your own pace according to how you feel. The return follows the same route as the outward journey.
Pay special attention near the water areas, as the ground can be slippery. Move carefully in these sections. Children should always be supervised near water. Please do not let your dog bathe in the water to help keep it clean. Walk mindfully and at your own pace.
Hiking respectfully! Stay on marked trails, do not enter the meadows. Take your litter with you and throw it in the rubbish bins. Pick up your dog’s poop and throw it in the rubbish bins. Dogs must be on a leash.
For your walk on the Kneipp Trail, we recommend comfortable shoes or – for the more adventurous – walking barefoot. Depending on the season, wear weather-appropriate clothing. A small towel is recommended.
Take your time and enjoy your walk. If possible, walk barefoot, feel the forest floor beneath your feet, and leave your smartphone in your pocket. Breathe deeply, listen to the birds, and enjoy the moment – this is how the Kneipp Trail unfolds its full effect.
The starting point “Tann” is easily reachable by public transport. From Bolzano, you can either take bus line 165 directly from the bus station to Klobenstein, or take the Ritten cable car to Oberbozen and continue by the Ritten Railway to Klobenstein. From Klobenstein, bus line 166 runs to Tann. Timetabel
From Bolzano/Rentsch, follow the signs for “RITTEN”. Drive along the provincial road for about 14 km to just before Klobenstein. At the roundabout, follow the signs for “RITTNER HORN” for about 4 km to Tann – driving time: approx. 25–30 minutes. The sunny plateau is also easily accessible by public transport.
Parking
At Tann only a few parking spaces are available. As an alternative, you can park at the valley station of the Rittner Horn mountain cable car (paid parking). Access to the trail: From the valley station in Pemmern, follow trail no. 1 for about 600 m to Tann (bus stop).
