From the Head of the valley in Val Casies Valley – S. Maddalena 1465 m, (refreshment stop, paid parking), follow trail No. 12 over the bridge. Turn left, then left again after the Schlosser Hof before turning right onto the old cattle drive. Near Burgerhof, cross the Pfoibach bridge and follow the forest road through the woods. Small clearings offer stunning views of the valley and the towering peaks of the Fanes-Senes-Braies Nature Park. After another stream crossing and alpine meadows, take the left fork (trail No. 12a) to reach the Uwald Alm 2042 m. Refreshment stop.
Recommended:
Hiking boots with good grip, high-quality socks to prevent blisters, weather-appropriate clothing, rain jacket, rain protection, dry T-shirt and sun protection (sunscreen/hat).
Pay attention to stay hydrated on hot days – always carry enough water in your backpack! In higher altitudes, summer storms can quickly become dangerous – check the weather forecast in advance and plan your tour carefully. Also a first aid kit should always be carried!
