The tour starts at the valley station of the Resciesa funicular in Ortisei. After taking the ride up, follow trail no. 35 over the Brogles Saddle to the Brogles Hut. The demanding ascent through the Forcella Mezdì is along trail no. 29. Arrived at the top, trail no. 2B leads past the Pieralongia Hut. The final stretch follows trail no. 6 along the spectacular Seceda Ridge Line.
The starting point of the tour is the valley station of the Raschötz funicular in Ortisei.
The funicular comfortably takes you up to Raschötzalm, where the hike begins. From the mountain station, follow trail no. 35 towards Brogles Saddle and continue to the picturesque Brogles Hut – a pleasant section with magnificent views of the Odle peaks.
From there, trail no. 35 continues to the entrance of the Mittagsscharte. The crossing takes place on trail no. 29 and represents the most challenging part of the tour. The steep ascent through the notch requires sure-footedness, a head for heights, and good fitness – but it is rewarded with impressive panoramic views.
After the crossing, continue on trail no. 2B, which passes by the picturesque Pieralongia Alm. The final section follows trail no. 6, where you follow the famous Seceda Ridge Line – one of the best-known photo spots in the Dolomites, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding mountain landscape.
Check with the mountain guides Catores or the Tourist Office to see if the Forcella Mezdì is accessible.
Please note the opening hours of the Seceda cable car or plan enough time for the return journey.

Take your time – this hike isn’t one to rush through. The view of the Odle peaks from Brogles Hut is already a true highlight, and once you're up on the ridgeline, you’ll definitely want to stay a while. The Forcella Mezdì is a serious section – best to go only in stable weather and don’t forget good hiking boots. And those who start early will have the mountains (almost) to themselves!
