Velvety-green meadows and picturesque woods, carefree sunshine and views beyond words. That’s what makes hiking fun! The beginning of the route leads along a peaceful forest road flanked by meadows filled with ever flower and herb you could imagine. The main stretch – and the longest – of this route leads through shady pine forests with occasional glimpses pf the surrounding area and the blue skies. When you arrive at the top, you will find a large clearing which is perfect for picnics or, alternatively, you can stop off for refreshments at the Refuge Tschafon Hütte hut.
Starting at the Prösels Castle you take path n. 5 and then n. 7 to get to the restaurant Schönblick. Take the path leading from the restaurant towards Tschafon until a narrow path forks off to the right. This path leads through the woods up the north face of the Völseggspitz until you get to the clearing with the Refuge Tschafonhütte. From the hut, it’s a short climb to the Völseggspitze summit with its outstanding views.
The way down leads out of the clearing in front of the hut to your right and down through the pine wood. Accompanied by the beautiful views over the Rosengarten and the Latemar, carry on down until you get to the Wuhnleger lake, with the Rosengarten reflected in its waters. Then along the tarred road, past the St. Sebastian Chapel and back to your set-off point.
