Accessible walk from Sand in Taufers to Luttach

Start from the parking area in the northern part of Sand in Taufers (870 m) and follow the gravel path marked with signpost no. 4. This path runs along the right bank of the Ahr River, leading you up the valley through a gorge. After passing an easy barrier, the trail begins with a gentle ascent that soon becomes quite steep (13%) for approximately 900 meters until you reach a wooden hut. The forest road becomes rougher and rockier in some sections. Following a marked descent, the path levels off again until you arrive at the Ahrntal state road. Be cautious here as you need to retrace a few steps along the busy road towards Sand in Taufers to cross the Ahr River via a road bridge and continue your hike on the other side. After navigating another easily passable barrier, follow the small road along the stream through the forest. Along the way, there are several rest areas with drinking fountains. Once you leave the forest, the path meanders through wide meadows to a covered wooden bridge near Luttach (940 m). Stay on the unpaved road without crossing the bridge to reach a small residential area (evening lighting).

Near an old farmhouse and a chapel, turn left towards the main road where you will find a bus stop. From there, retrace your steps back to the starting point. Note: If you prefer to skip the initial steep section, you can start your hike at the Ahrbrücke bridge and park near the Speikboden cable car station.

The trail can also be walked in the reverse direction.
