The ski tour starts at the large parking lot at the end of the village of Vals. From there, the route leads north to Fane Alm at 1,739 metres. Shortly before the alpine pasture, the route crosses the meadow and follows an alpine track southwards. After a distinctive gully, the route turns left and leads through a short section of forest considered to be protected from avalanches.
The route enters the wide cirque, keeping mainly to the right. Particular caution is required here, as the steep side slopes may be exposed to avalanche danger in unstable conditions. In the cirque, the route follows a gentle left-hand curve and continues towards the steeper summit ridge. You ascend this section and reach the broad ridge of Plattspitze to the right of the summit.
The descent leads across wide, undulating slopes with alternating steeper and flatter sections. A short forest section adds variety to the route. The tour finishes back at the parking lot in Vals.
Pay attention to the avalanche situation and check the current conditions in advance, especially in the cirque and on the summit slope.
Take bus no. 412 from Mühlbach to Vals. From the Jochtal bus stop, it is approximately a 30-minute walk to the starting point of the tour.
