Laion - Resciesa circular hiking tour

The Rasciesa circular trail begins in Laion (1,093m), following the Poststeig trail (marked as "P") as far as Ceves (1,212m; refreshments served), S. Pietro (1,210m; refreshments served) and the Pedrutsch (1,267m) mountain huts, all of which serve refreshments. The hike goes along a steep trail before reaching an intersection. Trail no. 8A leads left through the forest above Ortisei to the next crossing; trail no. 10 is a longer ascent through the Rasciesa forest up to the mountain pasture and turns left to the Raschötzhütte hut (2,170m; refreshments served). The trail continues to the Außerraschötz summit (2,281m; summit cross) and then left down to the Hl. Kreuz Kapelle chapel (2,198m). This is where return trail no. 35 begins, at first crossing through rocky terrain, before leading into the alpine forest and descending on to Tschatterlin Sattel ridge (1,870m). Continuing west, the route leads through a large forested area on field track no. 35 to the Ramitzler Schwaige hut (1,815m; refreshments served). After 2 km the trail leads past the Unterpulghütte hut (1,550m; refreshments served) and 4 km further down the field road, one is back in Laion. Inexperienced hikers: we recommend making use of public transport to Ortisei. From there use the Rasciesa funicular.
