The hiking trail to the rifugio Coston/Hintergrathütte is a beautiful circular trail of about 12 km in length, with a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountain world. The rif. Coston has three floors and is the starting point for the ascent of the Ortler. Next to the mountain hut there is also the so-called Hintergratsee at 2652 m altitude.
Starting from the parking lot of the Orso/Langenstein chairlift, follow trail no. 3 to the rif. Coston/Hintergrathütte. The descent is along path no. 2 to the bottom of the valley of Solda. From there it goes back to the Orso chairlift via path no. 7.
In addition to the three-hour hike, there is also the possibility to hike with the whole family within one hour from the top station Orso to the rif. Coston.
All the informations about the hike is without guarantee. Hiker should look at the weather forecast and plan the tour as best as possible.
If you do not want to travel to Solda by private car, you can use the pubblic transport. With the bus line 271 you get from Prato allo Stelvio/Spondigna to Solda in about half an hour. The bus stop is located directly at the tourist office in Solda. From there is it approx. a 5 min. walk to the Orso chair lift.
From Spondigna/Spondinig via the street to the Stelvio Pass SS 38 to Gomagoi, then left to Solda. From Spondigna to the parking area is it approx. 20 km.
In order to get to the starting point of the circuit trail in Solda, the parking area next to the Orso/Langenstein chair lift, is the most suitable.
