Hiking

Lengsteiner circular route

St. Oswald/S. Osvaldo - Kastelruth/Castelrotto, Kastelruth/Castelrotto, Bolzano/Bozen and environs
from center

This circular hiking trail begins in Lengstein village (952 m), and trail markers no. 9 lead to the Hexenbödele (witches' ground). A gentle ascent over a meadow will take you to the edge of the wood; when you arrive at a farm, turn off to your right on a wide trail (no. 8) and continue onwards to the Hexenbödele. Leave the wood, and follow trail no. 8A to St. Verena, with its spectacular views of the Dolomites.

Walk along the farm access road until the wood and meadow trails merge into a narrow public road. Turn right, follow the road until you come to Penzlhof farm (chapel) and Braunhof farm. Pass the Schnitzler, Gschnell and Weidacher farms and continue onwards to Antlas. At the Zunerhof farm beneath the St. Andreas church (don't miss the frescoes), turn off to the right onto trail no. 9 towards Lengstein.

After slight uphill stretch past the Rautner Weiher lake, you will come to the pretty area of Lengstein with its elegant red church tower.
