A scenic hike connecting Val Gardena with Val di Funes, crossing some of the most spectacular landscapes in the Dolomites. The route starts at the mountain station of the Resciesa funicular and ends at Malga Zannes, passing at the foot of the majestic Odle peaks along the famous Adolf Munkel Trail.
A complete and unforgettable hike that combines the convenience of cable assisted access with the beauty of the most renowned Dolomites trails, offering a day filled with breathtaking views, untouched nature, and the unique charm of the Odle mountains.
From the mountain station of the Resciesa funicular, take trail no. 35, which follows a pleasant and scenic route across alpine meadows and forests until reaching Brogles Alm. From here, continue along trail no. 35, entering the most famous section of the itinerary: the Adolf Munkel Trail, a spectacular path running at the foot of the northern faces of the Odle mountains.
The trail offers a continuous succession of panoramic views of the Dolomite spires, passing through forests and wide alpine meadows. The landscape is typical of the high Dolomites, with increasingly close and impressive views of the dramatic rock formations.
After following trail no. 35 to its junction with trail no. 34, turn onto this latter path to reach the Rifugio delle Odle and the nearby panoramic terrace known as the “Cinema delle Odle”. This is one of the most striking spots of the hike: a natural balcony offering an extraordinary view of the towering Odle peaks.
After a break, continue along trail no. 34 across the slopes of Val di Funes until reaching the junction with trail no. 34B. Shortly afterwards, this section connects with trail no. 36, which leads down to the final descent towards Malga Zannes, surrounded by the meadows of the valley.
The itinerary ends at Malga Zannes, from where you can either return along the same route or use public transport: bus no. 330 goes to Klamm, where you can connect with line 360 back to Ortisei.
Please take into account the operating hours of the funicular or allow sufficient time for the descent back to the valley. Also check the timetables of the buses in advance.
