A varied hike from the gentle meadows of Resciesa Alp along the northern side of the Odle peaks, crossing the massif and continuing up to Seceda and the UNESCO World Heritage terrace. This route is one of the most spectacular panoramic trails in the Dolomites.
Each section boasts a new highlight: the iconic Odle peaks, the twin rock towers of Pieralongia, the dramatic cliffs of Seceda, and the Mastlé UNESCO terrace viewpoint.
The tour starts at the mountain station of the Resciesa funicular in Ortisei (2,093 m). Trail 35 leads across the wide meadows of Resciesa di Dentro with panoramic views of the northern face of the Odle peaks to the scenic Brogles Hut (1:30 h)
From there, the route continues slightly downhill along the historic Adolf Munkel Trail (35) to the junction with trail 29, then climbs a steep serpentine path through Forcella di Mesdì (2,832 m) – 4h.
South of the Odle peaks, trail 2B leads via Plan Ciautier towards Pieralongia and further to the Mastlé UNESCO World Heritage Terrace, one of the most impressive viewpoints in the Dolomites.
The Fermeda chairlift takes hikers to the famous Seceda Ridge Line, one of the most iconic landscapes in the Dolomites (45 min.). At the summit cross at 2,519 m, a unique 360° panorama opens up: from the Odle peaks and Fermeda towers to the Sella Group, Sassolungo and Sassopiatto, across Seiser Alm and all the way to the main Alpine ridge with Ortles and Großglockner.
The Seceda cable car brings you back to Ortisei, followed by a local bus connection to S. Cristina or Selva di Val Gardena. This tour is the challenging variant.
Variant 2
(easy): Resciesa Alp – Seceda Ridge Line – Col Raiser)
This tour starts at the mountain station of the Resciesa funicular in Ortisei (2,093 m). From here, trail 35 leads across the peaceful meadows of the Resciesa di Dentro Alp, with panoramic views of the northern face of the Odle peaks to the Brogles Saddle above the scenic Brogles Hut (1:30 h)
From there, the route descends along trails 5 and 8 to the mid-station of the Furnes–Seceda cable car (1:30 h).
The cable car brings you to the famous Seceda Ridge Line, one of the most spectacular natural landmarks in the Dolomites. At the summit cross at 2,519 m, a breathtaking 360° panorama unfolds: from the Odle peaks and Fermeda towers to the Sella Group, Sassolungo and Sassopiatto, across Seiser Alm and all the way to the main Alpine ridge with the Ortles and Großglockner.
The descent continues along trail 1 to the Mastlé UNESCO World Heritage Terrace, a remarkable viewpoint in the heart of the Dolomites.
The tour finishes at Col Raiser (2,106 m) – 1:00 h – from where you take the cable car down to the valley and continue by local bus from S. Cristina back to Selva di Val Gardena or Ortisei.

Take your time – this hike isn’t one to rush through. The view of the Odle peaks from Brogles Hut is already a true highlight, and once you're up on the ridgeline, you’ll definitely want to stay a while. The Forcella Mezdì is a serious section – best to go only in stable weather and don’t forget good hiking boots. And those who start early will have the mountains (almost) to themselves!
