Family hikings

From Partschins/Parcines to Tyrol Castle

Partschins/Parcines, Meran/Merano and environs
Sunny walk from Partschins to Tyrol Castle with forest paths, rock formations, a short irrigation channel section and rich cultural highlights.
from center

This sunny hike links Partschins with one of South Tyrol’s most important cultural landmarks. Varied landscapes, light woodland and historic residences accompany the route. Thanks to its favourable altitude, the walk is especially recommended in spring and autumn and is suitable for families and culture lovers alike.

Itinerary

Starting point

Partschins, bus turning area / bus stop

Destination

Schloss Tirol / Tyrol Castle

Partschins – trail 10B – Töllgraben – trail 7 – trail 21B – Schlundenstein path – trail 25A – Café Konrad – Algund irrigation channel path – Ochsentod path – trail 29 – Thurnstein Castle – St Peter’s Church – Tyrol Castle

The walk starts at the bus turning area and bus stop in the centre of Partschins. The route passes the historic Ansitz Gaudententurm and continues through well-kept gardens towards the rose-coloured Spauregg Castle, easily recognised by its impressive giant sequoia. The path then follows Roman Road, climbing gently to the junction with trail 10B.

Trail 10B leads across the Töllgraben, where shortly before the Saxner Farm the route turns right. A gentle descent along trail 7 follows, before turning left onto trail 21B, which runs mostly level through a quiet, shaded woodland section.

After crossing the road, the route continues on the Schlundenstein path (trail 21), descending gently past the large Schlundenstein rock and a small rock cave, a favourite with children. At the next junction, trail 25A leads to Café Konrad.

A short section follows the Algund irrigation channel path, before turning left onto the Ochsentod path. Following trail 29, the route passes Thurnstein Castle and St Peter’s Parish Church, finally reaching the destination: Tyrol Castle.
