The "Tränkabachl" mill trail in Antholz Obertal is a gentle themed path along a historic watercourse. Following the babbling stream, the trail leads to several lovingly restored mills.

The route always follows the stream, making it especially enjoyable even on warm days. Information boards along the way provide insights into the importance of the mills, the use of water power, and the region’s rural culture.

This hike is ideal for families, leisure walkers, and anyone who wants to combine nature and history. The trail can be enjoyed as a short walk or a relaxed hike.

Itinerary

The Tränkabachl mill trail starts either at the bus stop “Antholz Obertal, Müller” or – for those arriving by car – at the parking area near the Rieserferner material cableway. From there, follow the signs and cross the road.

The path follows the Tränkabachl stream through an idyllic landscape, passing restored mills, old fences and traditional dry-stone walls. The gently ascending and well-maintained trail is ideal for a relaxed walk.
Information boards and a digital guide along the route provide insights into the history and cultural heritage of the area.

The return follows the same path or can be made comfortably by bus from the “Antholz Obertal, Steinzger” stop.

Details
Light hiking shoes, comfortable clothing and sufficient water are recommended. The trail is suitable for families with children (not suitable for strollers); a small backpack with snacks makes the hike perfect.

Take bus line 431 from the train station Olang-Antholz or from Lake Antholz to the bus stop "Antholz Obertal, Müller".

Directions
From the Pustertal road, turn into Antholz Valley and follow the road to Antholz Obertal.
Parking
Parking is available at the parking area near the Rieserferner material cableway in Antholz Obertal. From there, follow the signs, cross the road and reach the start of the Tränkabachl mill trail.
