Chamber Music in S. Cristina

In the atmospheric setting of the parrish church of S. Cristina visitors can enjoy a special evening of chamber music of the Ploner family.
The ensemble “Da Caspier” originates from a large family that is now making music in its fourth generation. Matthias Ploner and his uncle Johann Baptist began in Selva Val Gardena to integrate music into church life.

Matthias guided his five sons toward becoming professional musicians. They have held various positions as musicians and teachers in South Tyrol, including at the Conservatory of Bolzano, the Haydn Orchestra, and regional music schools. From this generation, further musicians have emerged who are also active in South Tyrolean and international musical ensembles.
The Ploner family has always cultivated a strong tradition of making music together and regularly gathered at their home for a wide variety of occasions, where music was lived across generations.

From this tradition, various formations have developed, ranging from sacred and secular ensembles such as duos, string quartets, chamber music groups, and vocal ensembles.
