Concert evening: Aluna

Music from around the world in the Lengmoos Commandery at 8 p.m. Entrance € 15, RittenCard € 12, student € 5. You could try to describe “Aluna” in a simple formula: one viola, two guitars, one trombone, one double bass, five passionate singing voices from South Tyrol, and songs from all over the world. A cover band without drums, then? Not quite. “Aluna” is a word from the multilingual vocabulary of the Kogi, Arhuaco, and Wiwa – mountain peoples who fled Spanish conquest 400 years ago and found refuge in Colombia’s highlands. Back then, “Aluna” meant the soul, thought, and human imagination. Today, the Aluna ensemble uses multicultural creativity to bring soulful interpretations of music from many parts of the world and cultures – performed by five musicians from the multilingual alpine region of South Tyrol. Their repertoire includes music of Neapolitan, Yiddish, Egyptian, Latin American, and Central European origin. It thrives on the unique style of their arrangements and the hope that something soulful can transcend language barriers and mountain peaks, creating a shared space of sound that unites people. It’s not easy – but it sounds wonderfully natural.
