As part of the Fuori Festival programme of Orizzonti Creativi, Floriana Gavazzi delivers a lecture on one of the most sought-after and least-taught skills in professional and social life: public speaking.
The ability to speak in public makes a difference in politics, business, many word-based professions and on social media. Yet this skill is rarely taught at school in a targeted and conscious way. The lecture traces the importance of rhetoric from the dawn of Western culture and reflects on the characteristics of effective public speech — which can never do without creativity and empathy. To support the argument and provide concrete examples of inspiring communication, video clips from famous speeches and well-known films will be used.
