EXHIBITIONS:

History of Villa San Marco
The open-air exhibition in the villa's park provides insights into the lives of the builders and owners of the Schwalbenvilla. The period covered ranges from the planning by architect Alexander Graf from 1894 onwards, through the construction and the villa's residents, the Lohner and Förstermann families, to the takeover by the Opera Nazionale Combattenti and the transition to state ownership. The history of the Academy of German-Italian Studies, founded in 1949 and based in Villa San Marco since 1993, is also part of the permanent exhibition.

Visit Merano! A new beginning
Poster exhibition by the Touriseum on the revival of tourism in the spa town of Merano after the First World War. With new infrastructure such as the golf course opened in 1922 and the cable car to Hafling, Merano aimed to attract a younger, more sophisticated and international clientele in the 1920s. Active tourists increasingly replaced the ailing spa guests. Thanks to international sporting events and a state-sponsored advertising campaign, ‘Merano’ became a household name throughout Italy.

The future of travel
What role will travel play in future societies? How will travel and being on the move change in the near or distant future? What will travel look like in the future and where will it take us? Using illustrations, the Touriseum's travelling exhibition offers a glimpse into the future of travel. The uncertain future comes to life and inspires reflection and dreams. Inspiring impulses to explore the possibilities and challenges of the coming travel era.
‘The Future of Travel’ presents a fascinating collection of short literary texts and their artistic interpretations, which challenge the limits of our imagination and at the same time offer realistic scenarios for the future of travel.
