A preview of talks and performances opens Flamenco sin Género(s), a project curated by Esther Regueira Mauriz that approaches flamenco as a living, constantly evolving practice. Born at the margins, in the encounter between Roma, Muslim, Jewish and Christian cultures, flamenco here reclaims its plural, radical and layered nature.
In dialogue between tradition and avant-garde, the project highlights some of the boldest research in contemporary flamenco: practices that resist genre categories and engage critically and experimentally with the tensions of the present. The evening offers a first glimpse into the artistic trajectories of the project, with Rocío Márquez – accompanied on this occasion by Javi Mora – and Los Voluble.
The preview anticipates the evenings of 17 September at NOI Techpark in Bolzano
