Bolzano Festival Bozen 2026 - European Union Youth Orchestra

The European Union Youth Orchestra presents another concert highlight at the Teatro Comunale with a programme featuring two major works of the symphonic repertoire. The orchestra will be conducted by Gustavo Gimeno, while the soloist will be cellist Julia Hagen, who comes from a renowned family of musicians. Her performances combine technical mastery, musical sensitivity and remarkable expressive depth.

The concert centres on Antonín Dvořák's Cello Concerto No. 2, Op. 104, one of the great masterpieces of the Romantic repertoire. Its broad melodic lines, emotional intensity and rich orchestral writing provide outstanding expressive opportunities for both the soloist and the orchestra. The second half of the evening features Anton Bruckner's Symphony No. 6, a work distinguished by its monumental structure, driving rhythms and powerful inner tension.
