The ensemble Baroque Arabesque comes to the Palazzo Mercantile in Bolzano as part of the Bolzano Festival Bozen, presenting a captivating mosaic of European Baroque music, Oriental music and Sephardic songs.
The Baroque era was a period of extraordinary vitality and creativity, in which improvisation, the cross-pollination of musical traditions and the fluid boundary between art music and folk music played a central role. It is from this perspective that Baroque Arabesque approaches early music, uncovering new interpretive possibilities with imagination, freshness and dedication.
Founded in Vienna in 2021 by Italian harpsichordist Marinka Brecelj, the ensemble brings together outstanding musicians, with Turkish-Kurdish singer Özlem Bulut as a standout presence, her compelling voice adding an unexpected and unique dimension to the performances.
Ensemble:
Özlem Bulut – voice
Alenka Brecelj – Baroque violin
Avin Ahamdi – oud
Desirée Wöhrer – viola da gamba and recorders
Marinka Brecelj – harpsichord and direction
