Cheese & Tradition – Dairy Tour with Tasting
At an altitude of 1,310 m, Beate and Christoph process the raw milk from their dairy cows directly on the farm into high-quality raw milk cheese. During the tour, you'll learn interesting facts about traditional cheesemaking and the history of the mountain farmers, before tasting the farm's own cheese varieties and getting hands-on with fresh cheese making yourselves. Those who wish can combine the outing with a short hike to the Vellau mountain station, from where a scheduled bus takes you back to Algund – the more athletic among you can instead take the footpath back to Algund.
We'll comfortably take you from the Tourist Office to the Hauserhof mountain dairy.
For the way back, we recommend the short and beautiful hike through the larch forests to Vellau, from where bus line 235 will take you back to Algund. The more athletic among you can also walk the whole way back to Algund. Should weather conditions or your mobility not allow for the walk back, you will of course be picked up again as well.
