Alpine hike from Kurzras to Lazaun Hut (2,427 m) through high moor, meadows & pine forest, with stunning views of the Ötztal Alps.
Hike to the Lazaun Hut in the Schnalstal Valley
We travel by bus towards the Vinschgau Valley and, after Naturns, turn right into the diverse and scenic Schnalstal Valley. At the end of the valley, surrounded by an impressive mountain backdrop, lies the small village of Kurzras (2,011 m), encircled by the snow- and ice-covered three-thousand-meter peaks of the Ötztal Alps. Our hike begins here, first heading northwest along the Schnals stream through the Langgrub valley. We continue uphill to the alpine Lazaun high moor, known for its unique flora, and finally reach our lunch destination, the Lazaun Hut at 2,427 m, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. After a relaxing break, we return to Kurzras along a somewhat rocky mountain trail across alpine meadows and Swiss stone pine forest, where the bus awaits for the journey home.
