Through the Grapevine

Six years after its premiere, Through the Grapevine by Belgian choreographer Alexander Vantournhout returns in a new version, this time accompanied for the first time by a live score performed by composer Andrea Belfi. Vantournhout appears on stage alongside Axel Guérin.

The two performers bring to life an eccentric pas de deux that opens with a mutual observation of postures before evolving into an increasingly intense physical dialogue. The staging, inspired by the Italian proscenium, builds a perspective that heightens tension and draws the audience's eye.

Similar in height but different in build, the two interpreters explore the boundary between balance and imbalance, strength and vulnerability. They challenge each other, support each other, and take turns leading, maintaining a constant mutual attentiveness that makes every movement feel necessary and alive. Touch becomes language, as dance and live music interweave into a spare, deeply engaging score.
