The festival begins at 11.00 pm. with live music and traditional food. At 2.00 pm starts the traditional cattle drive.
The cattle drive is a traditional custom in the Alpine region in which festively decorated cows are brought down from the mountain pastures to the valley in autumn. Its origins lie in the centuries-old tradition of Alpine farming. In spring, farmers drove their livestock up to the mountain pastures, where they could graze on fresh grass while the meadows in the valley were kept free for haymaking. Before winter, the animals had to return to the valley. Over time, this necessary part of the agricultural year developed into a tradition celebrating the safe return of both people and animals and remains closely connected to Alpine culture today.
