How was grain milled before electricity? How did a water-powered forge work? And why were there once so many mills in Aldein? Join a guided tour of the historic Thal Mill Complex and discover how the power of water shaped everyday life in the mountains for centuries. Follow the Thalbach stream as you explore beautifully restored grain mills, a water-powered forge, a Venetian saw, a stamping mill and other historic water-powered installations. Combining nature, history and traditional craftsmanship, this tour offers a fascinating experience for visitors of all ages.

    Everything you need to know

    Aldino Fire Station
    From Neumarkt (Egna), follow the signs to Aldein. After passing the industrial area, you will reach the Volunteer Fire Brigade station on the main road. This is the meeting point for the guided tour. Free parking is available at the fire station.
