Paths that connect: the Trento Film Festival returns to Bolzano

8–12 June 2026

From 8 to 12 June 2026 the Bolzano edition of the Trento Film Festival – Mountains and Cultures returns to the city, this year in a completely new format. Since 1952 the international festival has continuously explored the relationship between humanity and the world's high lands, keeping open, in the name of mountain culture, the paths that connect Trentino with South Tyrol.

For the first time the Bolzano edition finds its home in the new Alcide Berloffa Park: a welcoming, lively space designed for encounter, exchange and a rich programme dedicated to children, young people, families and everyone passionate about the mountains and alpine culture.

At the heart of the event is MontagnaLibri, the international showcase of mountain publishing, with book presentations, readings and meetings. Guests include mountaineer and explorer Tamara Lunger, writer Enrico Brizzi, climber Wafaa Amer and author Sylvia Rier. One section is dedicated to more responsible mountain tourism, another to a conversation among young female climbers on the future of mountaineering, between community and performance.

In collaboration with AVS – Alpenverein Südtirol and CAI Bolzano, a climbing wall is available in the park throughout the festival, where visitors can try the unique experience of climbing. South Tyrolean top climber Jacopo Larcher is the protagonist of a Story Climbing on the crags of the Tisner Auen. The park also hosts the photo exhibition Lam Thuk Khamzang by Stefan Plank, recounting a mountaineering expedition to the Rangtik Valley (Zanskar, India).

The T4Future section is dedicated to the new generations and the future of the planet, with workshops, outdoor activities and screenings for kindergartens, primary and lower secondary schools. The Terraferma Library hosts MontagnaLibri Kids, the festival's adventurous and colourful section of children's books. The school activities are part of the National Plan for Cinema and Images for Schools.

The 74th edition unfolds in two distinct moments: in June the opening is entrusted to literature, publishing and activities for children, while in October the spotlight turns to cinema, with the best mountain film productions.

Unless otherwise indicated, events are free and open to all.
