International chess tournament „Chessfestival ad Gredine“

From 11 to 13 September 2026, the Val Gardena Chess Club will organize, for the fifth time, an important international chess tournament at the Cultural Centre in Ortisei.
The tournament has already taken place in 2012, 2013, 2016, and 2018, with participants from over 20 countries and 4 continents.

The three-day tournament will be called “Chessfestival ad Gredine”, a name that refers to the historical document in which this term was mentioned for the first time and from which the name “Gardena” later originated. In this way, the Ladin heritage will also be introduced to the world of chess.
