Guided tour of the medieval town of Glurns “Towers, Walls, Mill”

Glurns/Glorenza, Vinschgau/Val Venosta
from center
The Middle Ages are still visible in every corner. The fortified town wall with its round corner towers bears witness to times of war, princely politics and the era when this town was a trading center for the salt trade between southern Germany and Lombardy. The inhabitants of Glurns also had their own unit of measurement, markets and the seat of the princely court. What the Pied Piper is for Hamelin, the famous mouse trial is for Glurns. The mill stream branched off from the Adige River and was used by merchants who needed the water to manufacture or process their products. Discover the village mill area, where part of the old mill wheel and the completely preserved millstone can still be seen.
