When Bavarian multi-instrumentalist Matthias Schriefl joins forces with the Musikkapelle Schabs and musicians from his Brazilian Motion project, the imposing Franzensfeste Fortress becomes a musical adventure playground. Schriefl, an eternal border-crosser, does not merely stage a tame crossover or folkloric homage; he delivers a sonic manifesto that joyfully unsettles the rigidity of tradition. It is a musical exchange of ideas in which the participants, with a subtle wink and remarkable performative chutzpah, demonstrate how much cosmopolitan spirit can emerge from local roots.
