"GOLDEN SLIDE & SYMPHONIC POWER”
SYMPHONIC WINDS 2026 & David Luidold

For over 35 years, the Symphonic Winds select wind orchestra has been delighting audiences with its musical excellence and artistic diversity. The charisma of this extraordinary ensemble, conducted by Alexander Veit, sets new standards in the field of symphonic wind music.

THE MAGIC OF THE LOW BRASS IN SOUTH TYROL: Bass trombone virtuoso David Luidold to perform with Symphonic Winds Dobbiaco / Bolzano / Merano – In December 2026, music lovers in South Tyrol can look forward to a special highlight: David Luidold, one of the world’s most distinguished bass trombonists, is coming to South Tyrol for three exclusive concerts. Together with the renowned Symphonic Winds orchestra and soloist Chantal Ramona Veit, the tour promises musical brilliance and innovative soundscapes.

David Luidold is far more than just an orchestral musician – he is a visionary on his instrument. A permanent member of the Graz Philharmonic since 2009, he has made a name for himself as a guest musician with the world’s leading orchestras, such as the Vienna and Berlin Philharmonics and La Scala in Milan. In South Tyrol in December 2026, he will showcase his full tonal range, which extends from a powerful presence to nuanced, almost vocal melodies. Luidold, recipient of the City of Graz’s Karl Böhm Prize, embodies a modern musical culture. He has demonstrated this not only through his involvement in the development of the innovative bass trombone ‘THOR’, but also through spectacular large-scale projects such as ‘76 Trombones’ at Graz Opera. His passion for innovation is also reflected in the world premieres dedicated to him, which he brings to life with technical perfection and deep emotional expression. Alongside his stage career, David Luidold is a passionate educator and visiting professor at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz. As Austria’s representative in the International Trombone Association and founder of the Graz Trombone Quartet, he is committed to promoting young musical talent and the further development of trombone repertoire worldwide. Alongside Luidold, the brilliant South Tyrolean artist Chantal Ramona Veit will perform as a soloist with Symphonic Winds. The combination of a symphonic wind orchestra, the power of the bass trombone and Veit’s delicate solo playing promises a programme that bridges the gap between classical tradition and forward-looking innovation.
