The Galleria Civica in Bolzano (Piazza Domenicani 18) is hosting COGITO E#GO SUM, the eighth edition of the art biennial organised by FIDA Trento | Bolzano, bringing together thirty-six artists for a reflection on contemporary identity and the relationship between human thought and artificial intelligence.
The title is a deliberate distortion of Descartes' formula Cogito ergo sum: the R from eRgo is removed, leaving COGITO EGO SUM – a provocation that questions whether the self remains stable in an era where human thinking meets and sometimes merges with artificial intelligence. Are we truly what we think? Or is the Ego – individual, collective and social – today an unstable, porous territory exposed to new forms of identity construction?
The exhibition spans painting, photography, sculpture, video art, installations and conceptual works. Sculptures, installations and video art are on display throughout; wall-based works are presented in two separate cycles, giving each artist dedicated space while letting the exhibition breathe.
