Guided Schlern Crossing via the Schlernhaus refuge

A classic crossing of the Schlern high plateau. Wide alpine meadows, distinctive ascents, and long descents characterize this impressive mountain tour.

Tour description:
We start our hike at the cable car station in Compatsch and walk across the Seiser Alm towards the Saltner Hut. From there, we ascend via the Tourist Trail to the Schlern plateau and reach the Schlernhaus, where we stop for lunch. Afterwards, we descend through the Thomastal to the Tschafatsch Saddle and follow the steep trail through the Bärenfalle down to Weißlahnbad.

Walking time: approx. 6.5 hours
Ascent: approx. 800 m
Descent: approx. 1,400 m
Distance: 15 km
Difficulty: technically moderate hike; good basic fitness and sure-footedness required
Refreshment stop: Schlernhaus

    In the bus line 176 | Departure from St. Zyprian at 08:35 h *
    * The starting point of the hike can be reached by public bus line 176. The bus departs from St. Zyprian (Tiers) and continues to the Seiser Alm cable car.

    Main stops and arrival times:
    • St. Zyprian, Tiers cable car – departure at 08:35
    • Weisslahnbad – arrival at 08:40
    • Tiers, Brunnenplatz – arrival at 08:46
    • Völs , roundabout – arrival at 09:15
    • Seis, Seiser Alm cable car – arrival at 09:24

    Boarding is possible at every bus stop along the route.
    The hiking guide will be present from St. Zyprian onwards. All participants are therefore kindly asked to board the bus independently and to be on time at their chosen stop.

    Alpine footwear and hiking clothes, rain jacket, sun cream and headgear, water bottle;
    The refund of the paid amount will be reimbursed only in case of cancellation by the organizer.
    The price only includes the guided hike. Ascent facilities, lunch and provisions must be paid for by the participants themselves.
