Theatre: Eine Weihnachtsgeschichte in german language

Meran/Merano, Meran/Merano and environs

A stage fairy tale with music, based on Charles Dickens. In german language.

from center
Old Ebenezer Scrooge is a real miser who considers Christmas a waste of money and time. Yet it is precisely at Christmas that he is visited by four ghosts who ultimately teach him once more what he has long neglected: humanity. Charles Dickens’ story, first published in 1843, is for many one of those Christmas traditions they look forward to year after year. After all, in this age of ‘Me, Inc.’ and self-centredness, the Scrooges on whom one would wish Dickens’ spirits to descend are by no means extinct. Director and producer Martin Mühleis has created a stage adaptation for the actors Samuel Finzi and Herbert Knaup which, together with the music of Libor Síma – performed live by five professional string players – makes for a very special evening during Advent. With Samuel Finzi and Herbert Knaup, two great character actors take to the stage, both of whom are also well known for their numerous film and television roles. Samuel Finzi is a member of the ensemble at the Deutsches Theater in Berlin. Herbert Knaup performs at the St. Pauli Theatre in Hamburg, amongst other venues. Together with the stage music, they convey the typical, quirky British humour of "Eine Weihnachtsgeschichte" in a deeply moving way.
