Guided hike on the Schlern mountain, the symbol of South Tyrol
Kastelruth/Castelrotto, Dolomites Region Seiser Alm
from
center
We start from Compatsch and walk toward Saltner Hut, located at the foot of the Schlern mountain range. During the first part of the hike, we’ll enjoy the lush meadows and the cool freshness of the forests we pass through. Later, our path will lead us upward along serpentine trails, past mountain pines, toward Schlern Hut. Soon, we’ll reach the Schlern plateau with its endless meadows. At this point, you’ll finally see Schlern Hut—a perfect spot for a lunch break. Before heading back—and if you’re fit enough—we’ll hike up to the Petz, the highest Point of the Schlern mountain range, marked by its summit cross at 2,564 meters. Take your time to enjoy the breathtaking view of the Ötztal Glacier, the Stubai Glacier, the Adamello and Ortler Alps, as well as the Langkofel, Plattkofel, and Sella mountain ranges.
