Passeier Valley: From Ulfas to Schartalm. Views of Ötztal Alps & Jaufen ridge. Includes ancient irrigation channels & rustic trails.
Hike in the Passeier Valley – From Ulfas to the Schartalm
We take the coach to the Passeier Valley, turn off towards Hinterpasseier in the main town of St. Leonhard and continue to the Kratzegg car park above the hamlet of Ulfas. We first follow a gravel road into the Salderntal valley and then climb gently to the Ulfaser Alm. Our destination is the Schartalm, which is only open in summer and is located below the ‘Hahnl’ in a beautiful panoramic location on a shoulder of the terrain. From the sun terrace, you have a magnificent view of the rear Passeier Valley, the Ötztal Alps and the Jaufenkamm ridge opposite. We will walk along a section of the Ulfaser Waalweg trail, but also along rustic and bumpy paths, some of which are paved with stone slabs, up and down through rocky mountain forests and across alpine meadows.
