Badke(remix)
Between celebration and resistance, an explosion of collective energy that reinvents tradition in the present: Badke(remix) comes to Bolzano with a vital and political gesture that weaves together roots and contemporary expression. Originally created for the company les ballets C de la B with a group of Palestinian dancers, Badke reached international audiences between 2013 and 2016. It now returns as Badke(remix) under the artistic direction of Amir Sabra and Ata Khatab, in a process of cultural and political reclamation. The title plays on the word "dabke", the Palestinian folk dance from which everything originates. Drawing on this tradition, the performers – with backgrounds spanning contemporary dance, hip hop, capoeira and circus – build a hybrid and ever-evolving movement language. The work does not seek to recover a lost authenticity, but to question tradition: how far can it transform without losing its identity? Through a festive and overwhelming form, the political context from which it emerges remains present as an undertone. Movement becomes a space of resistance and affirmation, a shared gesture that keeps alive the hope of imagining a possible alternative.
