Panoramic hike in the Vinschgau
From Mals to the Malettesböden
We take a coach through the Vinschgau to Mals, follow a short stretch of the road to Planol, and start our hike there (approx. 1,200 m). With views of the meadows of the Mals heath, the villages of the Vinschgau, and the ice-capped peaks of the Ortler group opposite, the trail first runs almost flat along the “Sonnensteig” (Sun Trail). At the first fork, we ascend through forest and meadow to the so-called “Kührast,” passing a small shrine (St. Martin) until we reach the Malettesböden (approx. 1,600 m). Here, the views of the Ortler and Sesvenna groups are spectacular. After a well-deserved break, the return route passes the “Rainalterhof” farm tavern (short stop planned if open) and then descends along a wide forest path back to Mals. From there, we take the coach back to Algund.
Sturdy hiking boots, sun and rain protection, clothing suitable for the season and the hike, drinks and some snacks.
