Orizzonti Creativi - Beyond the Dark Wood: Dante, Intelligence and Strategic Dec

As part of the Orizzonti Creativi Festival, Marco Pugliese delivers a lecture at the intersection of literature, strategic thinking and intelligence culture, in collaboration with TreviLab.

Every strategic decision begins in a dark wood: incomplete information, lack of time, adversaries who deceive. The Commedia is not only the foundation of the Italian language, but also an extraordinary phenomenology of decision-making under uncertainty: a man loses his bearings, recognises his disorientation, accepts a guide, passes through evil in order to understand it, corrects his errors, and ultimately reaches a comprehensive vision. The lecture proposes a strategic reading of the poem — not a forced allegory, but an exercise in method — bringing Dante's text into dialogue with issues central to contemporary intelligence culture: cognitive biases, deception and counter-deception, risk assessment, the relationship between analyst and decision-maker, and the ethical responsibility that comes with knowledge.
